The Dew series is Kona's urban hybrid line, bridging the gap between the brand's mountain bike DNA and practical city riding. The Dr Dew sits at the top — a cromoly-framed, 12-speed, hydraulic-disc commuter that looks refined but rides confidently on broken city streets and light gravel. The 650b wheel size is a deliberate choice: smaller than 700c for quicker acceleration and a lower centre of gravity, but large enough to roll over urban obstacles. The 2026 model updated to thru-axles throughout for added stiffness.

- Kona Cromoly Butted steel (Dr Dew); Kona aluminum on base Dew. Full cromoly frame and fork on Dr Dew. Road-style thru-axle dropouts (12x142mm rear / 12x100mm front). External headset cups on Dr Dew for classic aesthetic.

- Dr Dew: SRAM NX-Eagle 12-speed (1x12), 11-50t cassette; FSA Comet crankset 38t. Base Dew: Shimano 8-speed or similar (build-dependent). Shimano CUES 11-speed linkglide on 2026 model.

Verdikt
- 12-speed 1x drivetrain from mountain bike tech gives an exceptionally wide gear range for urban use
- Cromoly steel frame absorbs city road buzz and is infinitely repairable
- 650b + 47c tires strike a practical balance between roll speed and comfort on rough streets
- Shimano Altus brakes are entry-level — adequate but not as sharp as MT200 or better
- 650b wheel standard limits tire and wheel interchangeability compared to 700c
- Dr Dew sits at a premium price for a city commuter — the steel frame and 12-speed spec cost more than the task strictly requires
