Algupära

The Orca — name from "Orbea Carbon" — launched in 2003 as the cooperative brand's leap into the high-end carbon race market. For two decades it served as Orbea's professional race weapon, ridden to UCI victories. The 2024 seventh generation was the boldest redesign in its history: abandoning the aero-influenced tube shapes of the previous model and returning to structurally-optimised round tubes, using 90 fewer carbon pieces in the OMX version for better properties and lower weight. The result set a new benchmark for the climbing race segment.

Verdikt

+Tugevused
  • OMX frame at 750 g is genuinely class-leading lightweight
  • Round-tube monocoque is stiffer gram-for-gram than complex aero shapes at climbing pace
  • 32 mm tire clearance makes it practical for race and training days on varied roads
Nõrkused
  • Pure climbing focus means it lacks aero integration for flat or punchy races
  • Premium OMX builds command top-tier pricing
  • Round tubes offer less aero advantage than purpose-built aero frames at speed
