- 25+ years of unbroken WorldTour use and a wide price ladder (€150 Advan to €450 3D Carbon)
- Minimal padding — firm, race-oriented feel that many riders find uncomfortable for long/relaxed riding
- Top tiers are expensive (3D Carbon €450); carbon-rail versions are stiff and unforgiving on rough roads
- Racing Replica ultralight padding shows cosmetic wear faster than standard (Selle Italia warns this is normal)
- Short Gen 4 length (242 mm) can limit seatpost clamp fore/aft adjustment on some bikes
- Not suitable for upright city/touring riders (posterior pelvic tilt) — they should look at Novus or Max
