Peugeot is one of the oldest continuously recognised names in cycling. The first Peugeot bicycle, a penny-farthing called Le Grand Bi, was hand-built by Armand Peugeot in 1882, and the marque went on to become the most successful factory team in Tour de France history with a record ten overall wins, first sponsoring a winner (Louis Trousselier) in 1905. The famous black-and-white checkerboard livery is a direct descendant of that racing era. In the modern period the Peugeot bicycle name has been licensed through Cycleurope (part of Sweden's Grimaldi Industri), and Peugeot Cycles was relaunched as a design-led brand backed by the Stellantis group. The e-VTC line, headlined by the eT01 and eT01 Crossover introduced from 2020, is that revival applied to the do-everything electric trekking bike: French-assembled frames, Bosch mid-drive power, and full touring equipment aimed at riders who want one bike for commute, errands and weekend gravel.

- Confusing model tree - D8/D9/D10/FS/Belt/Mixte trims differ a lot, so "e-VTC" alone doesn't tell you the spec
- Heavy (~22-24 kg) and, on Crossover trims, priced against strong German/Dutch trekking rivals
- Base trims use small 400 Wh batteries with modest real-world range (~40-60 km) - underspecced for long tours
