V10
Algupära
The V10 launched in 2002 as Santa Cruz's flagship downhill race bike and quickly became one of the most decorated machines in the sport's history, racking up World Cup and World Championship wins under the Santa Cruz Syndicate team (riders including Steve Peat, Greg Minnaar and Loris Vergier). Built in Santa Cruz, California, it has always been defined by the brand's lower-link VPP (Virtual Pivot Point) suspension, licensed from the original Outland design and refined by Santa Cruz over two decades. The bike carried the sport through the wheel-size revolutions: it started on 26in wheels, moved to 27.5in with the V10.6 in 2014, and then helped rewrite downhill racing when the Syndicate showed up at the 2017 Lourdes World Cup on a 29in V10 prototype - the platform that became the production V10.7. The eighth-generation V10.8, released for 2024, is a refinement rather than a reinvention, softening frame stiffness slightly for better traction while keeping the instantly recognisable low-slung silhouette.

Verdikt
- World-Cup-proven speed and stability - exceptional composure and grip at race pace
- Beautifully refined VPP rear suspension with excellent small-bump traction; low, serviceable shock placement praised by mechanics
- Highly adjustable geometry (reach, BB/head angle, chainstay) so it can be tuned to rider and track
- Single-discipline DH bike - needs a shuttle, uplift or bike park; not a pedal-uphill or all-round bike
- Carbon-CC-only and premium-priced; no budget frame or build option exists
- Limited stock colour choices reported on recent generations
Põlvkonnad
V10 (26in era, 2002-2013)
- Original V10 dynasty on 26in wheels; the platform that built the bike's racing legend.
V10.6 (2014-2018)
- First move to bigger wheels; offered in CC and cheaper C carbon layups, adjustable geometry.
V10.7 (2019-2022)
- 29er (and mixed-wheel) era, born from the 2017 Lourdes prototype; CC-only, very stiff/predictable.
V10.8 (2024+)
- 8th gen refinement: ~10% less front / ~8% less rear stiffness for more traction, 3-way geometry adjust.
