2002. aastal tutvustas Specialized Epicu kui revolutsioonilist XC täisvedrustusega jalgratast patenteeritud Brain šokiga — inertsi-klapi vedrustustehnoloogiaga, mis automaatselt eristas sõitja sisendit ja raja lööke.
