Riprock
Algupära
Specialized launched the Riprock in the mid-2010s as its dedicated kids' off-road line, sitting above the entry Hotrock in ambition: a genuine junior mountain bike rather than a shrunken pavement bike. The early generation (roughly 2015-2021) leaned into a fun, rugged image with fat 2.8in tyres and a short-travel SR Suntour coil fork, aiming to look and feel like a real trail bike. For 2022 Specialized tore the geared 20 and 24 models down to the studs and rebuilt them around a single idea: weight matters most for small, low-powered riders. Out went the suspension fork, in came a light rigid alloy fork, slacker geometry borrowed from the adult Stumpjumper/Rockhopper range, a 9-speed drivetrain and hydraulic discs. The Coaster models (12/16/20in, single-speed, coaster brake) carry the name for the youngest first-pedallers, keeping things simple and cheap.

Verdikt
- Genuinely light for a kids' bike with a real MTB build (hydraulic discs, 9-speed, Ground Control tyres)
- Modern slack geometry and kid-specific touch points (narrow bars/grips, short reach) inspire confidence
- Solid resale value and durable A1 alloy frame - a good grow-with-me and hand-me-down bike
- Expensive versus generic kids' bikes; the 24 Expert is a serious investment
- Narrow 'best fit' window - kids can outgrow a size quickly, and trigger-shifter ergonomics can be a stretch for small hands
- Geared models ship with tubed (non-tubeless) tyres, adding weight and pinch-flat risk on rocky trails
Põlvkonnad
1st gen (approx 2015-2021)
- Fun, rugged, heavier; suspension fork and fat tyres for a 'mini trail bike' look.
- Pidurid
- Mechanical disc
2022+ redesign (geared 20/24)
- Rigid fork deletes weight; slacker modern geometry, hydraulic discs, dropper-compatible 24. A different bike - do not confuse specs with the older model.
- Pidurid
- Hydraulic disc, 160mm
24 Expert (2022+)
- Premium flagship with real air fork and tubeless wheels; roughly double the price of the rigid 24.
- Pidurid
- SRAM Level hydraulic
