Specialized soovis luua e-maanteejalgratast, mis ei tunduks nagu tanki sõitmine, kui mootor 25 km/h juures välja lülitub. SL 1.1 mootor töötati välja kerge ja hõõrdevabana. Creo 2 puhul tunnistasid nad, et e-maanteesõitjad eelistavad kruusa ja mugavust, nihutades geomeetriat ja rehvimahu segapinnalise sõidu suunas. Gen 1 (2019-2023): SL 1.1 mootori turuletoomine, mis seadis kerge e-maanteejalgrataste standardi. Gen 2 (2023–praeguseni): Turbo Creo 2 turuletoomine: SL 1.2 mootor (rohkem pöördemomenti, vaiksem), nihe kruusasõidu võimekuse suunas, Future Shock 3.0.

- Exceptionally light for an e-bike (~12-13.7 kg) with low, centered weight distribution and stable, nimble handling
- Future Shock 2.0 headset micro-suspension adds Roubaix-grade comfort without a heavy suspension fork
- Stealthy design that looks like a regular bike; strong Specialized dealer network and warranty
- Flexible range via the bottle-cage 160 Wh range extender (up to ~195 km claimed)
- Main 320 Wh battery is fully integrated and NOT user-removable — you must bring the whole bike to an outlet, and accessing it needs shop service
- Very expensive — superbike pricing, especially S-Works (~£10,999 / ~$19,000)
- Noticeable motor noise compared with quieter competitor systems
- Lower torque (35 Nm) and 240 W output struggle on steep climbs versus full-power e-bikes
- No handlebar assist remote on early builds — changing mode means reaching to the top-tube TCU; awkward charge-port placement near the crank
