Algupära

Wilier Triestina is one of the oldest bicycle marques on earth, founded in 1906 by Pietro Dal Molin on the banks of the Brenta river in Bassano del Grappa, Italy. The name is an acronym of the patriotic rallying cry 'W l'Italia Liberata E Redenta' (Long live Italy, liberated and redeemed), with 'Triestina' added for the then-contested city of Trieste. The brand carried Fiorenzo Magni to his 1948 Giro d'Italia victory and, after a mid-century decline, was revived and is today headquartered in Rossano Veneto. The 101X sits in that racing lineage as Wilier's carbon cross-country hardtail: the stated design objective was 'a Cross Country super light MTB with standard Boost' — a modern race platform that keeps the Italian house's road-bike obsession with weight and ride refinement, translated to 29" dirt.

Verdikt

+Tugevused
  • Low weight for the money and genuine Italian-brand cachet
  • Friendly, stable handling — more forgiving on technical trails than a pure race hardtail
  • Good seated comfort and tyre traction; modern long-front-centre frame
Nõrkused
  • Feels soft/lacks 'snap' under hard power — not the most efficient on short sharp efforts
  • Can feel harsh over rough ground despite the soft-under-power sensation; seatpost bounce noted under acceleration
  • Pricier than mainstream rivals at the same component spec
