Kilmė

LOOK Cycle was founded in 1951 in Nevers, France, first as a maker of ski bindings before transferring its quick-release expertise to cycling. The brand changed the sport twice in as many years: the world's first clipless pedal (1985) and, in 1986, the first carbon-fibre frame ridden to Tour de France victory (Greg LeMond on the KG 86). That carbon pedigree carried LOOK deep into the aero/time-trial world, where its KG 396, 496 and 596 frames — full carbon monocoques with integrated forks and the patented adjustable 'Ergostem' cockpit — became icons of 2000s TT and triathlon racing, several developed alongside Olympic track programmes. The name 'Aeron', however, does not correspond to any documented LOOK bicycle: the closest match is LOOK's 'AERGO/Aerogo' carbon aero-bar family, so 'Aeron' is most likely a mistranscribed catalog entry rather than a genuine model.

Verdiktas

+Stiprybės
  • LOOK's genuine TT/tri frames (496/596/796) are prized for aero shaping and front-end stiffness.
  • Highly adjustable integrated cockpits (Ergostem / AERGO) allow a precise, aggressive position.
  • Hand-laid French carbon heritage — strong resale desirability among collectors of the classic 496/596.
Trūkumai
  • No verifiable 'Aeron' model exists — specs, year and pricing for this exact name are unconfirmed.
  • Classic LOOK TT frames are proprietary-heavy (integrated stem/seatpost), so parts and fit adjustment can be awkward.
  • The real 496/596 were not the lightest and are now aged; the current 796 frameset is expensive (~£6,600).
