Izcelsme

The Kato family arrived in 2012 as Ghost's accessible entry into the hardtail market. Where the Lector is all about race weight and carbon, the Kato is about making reliable, fun mountain biking affordable. Aluminium frames, sensible geometry, a clear upgrade ladder from EQ (entry commuter-oriented) through Essential to Pro — and a FS (full-suspension) spinoff that brought the Kato name to affordable trail bikes. Ghost later extended the line to kids' sizes (Kato 24) and the Kato FS, meaning a rider can go from their first MTB to a full-squish trail bike without leaving the family.

Verdikts

+Stiprās puses
  • Shimano Deore 1×12 and RockShox Judy air fork on the Pro at ~€999 is exceptional value
  • Wide range of sizes and frame shapes covers most body types and skill levels
  • 5-year frame warranty provides confidence in the aluminium build quality
Vājās puses
  • Entry EQ models use Shimano Tourney and a coil fork — components that limit trail ambitions
  • QR axles on lower builds mean less stiffness than thru-axle competitors
  • Weight is higher than carbon alternatives, limiting pure climbing speed
