Segway and Ninebot merged in 2015 after Ninebot, a Chinese self-balancing scooter maker backed by Xiaomi, acquired the original American Segway Inc. The combined Segway-Ninebot went on to dominate the shared-scooter boom of the late 2010s, supplying hardware to operators like Bird, Lime and Bolt. The KickScooter MAX G30, launched in 2019, distilled that fleet-grade durability into a consumer commuter and became one of the best-selling private e-scooters in the world. The MAX G30LP ("Low Power") followed in 2020 as a deliberately de-contented variant: same rugged chassis, drum brake and self-healing tyres, but a smaller 367Wh battery to cut cost and weight for riders whose daily trips never needed the full G30's 60+ km range.
