Origin
The Sector sits between the Modus (entry carbon, TEKTRO brakes) and the Magnum (top carbon, FOX SC, XT throughout) — a step up in component quality with XT/SLX brakes and either Fox or RockShox Recon air fork, while keeping the cost below flagship. It has tracked Author's component evolution: transitioning from 2×10 to 1×12 Shimano systems and adopting modern thru-axle geometry.

The verdict
+Strengths
- Carbon weight with real brakes (XT/SLX vs TEKTRO on Modus)
- MAVIC Crossmax UST wheels on top builds
- Air fork from RockShox or FOX rather than RST
−Weaknesses
- Middle-child positioning makes the case for each step up and down
- Weight and specs vary significantly by year — verify build before buying used
- AUTHOR B carbon is not the same layup as the Magnum's race-spec fibre
