BassoVolta

01
Origin
The Volta is Basso's carbon e-bike and, true to the brand, it's made in Italy from Torayca carbon. It's pitched as Basso's most versatile platform: a fast drop-bar machine that runs as a quick road bike on 700c wheels but transforms into a capable rough-trail bike when you swap in a 650b wheelset. The heart is an Italian Polini E-P3+ GP mid-motor — over 80 Nm of torque and a 500 Wh battery good for up to ~220 km — wrapped in a low, aero-friendly geometry that keeps total weight to about 15.2 kg.

The verdict
+Strengths
- Strong, refined Italian Polini motor with long ~220 km range
- Genuinely versatile: fast on road, capable off-road with a 650b wheel swap
- Light for an e-bike (~15.2 kg) with made-in-Italy carbon quality
−Weaknesses
- Premium price for an Italian carbon e-bike
- Polini ecosystem is less widely serviced than Bosch/Shimano
- Aggressive low geometry won't suit every rider
