Infinito CV
Origin
The Infinito CV launched in 2013 as the world's first production bicycle to use Countervail - a viscoelastic carbon composite originally developed by US aerospace firm Materials Sciences Corporation for NASA satellite components and military applications. Bianchi licensed the technology exclusively for cycling and embedded it into the Infinito's carbon layup to cancel approximately 80% of road vibration while simultaneously increasing torsional stiffness. The result was a Spring Classics weapon that proved itself under riders like Vincenzo Nibali and the LottoNL-Jumbo team across Paris-Roubaix and the Tour of Flanders. With endurance-specific geometry - taller head tube, longer chainstays, 32 mm tire clearance - the Infinito CV remains Bianchi's definitive long-distance race bike and the historical home of Countervail technology.

The verdict
- Countervail carbon cancels ~80% of road vibration — exceptional long-distance comfort without a compliance penalty in stiffness
- Superb blend of race-bike handling and endurance comfort; planted, stable feel
- Excellent straight-line stability and composure in crosswinds
- Disc version clears up to 32mm tires, allowing comfort/grip upgrades
- Iconic Bianchi celeste heritage with proven WorldTour pedigree (Nibali, LottoNL-Jumbo)
- Limited sprinting acceleration / explosive punch versus dedicated race bikes
- Loses a touch of precision at the cornering limit; can understeer with an aggressive position
- Cable routing around the cockpit can look messy on some builds
- Expensive — mid-tier finishing kit on builds that cost flagship money
- Rim-brake version capped at 28mm tires, limiting comfort gains versus disc model
