Tesoro Neo
Origin
Cannondale introduced the Tesoro Neo X as the trekking/touring branch of its Neo electric range, sitting between the urban Mavaro and the off-road Moterra. The 2022 redesign of the Neo X 1 brought the big-capacity Bosch PowerTube 750 Wh battery, a parallelogram suspension seatpost, and three frame geometries (high-step, step-through and low step-through) so a single platform could suit commuters, tourers and lighter off-road adventurers. The name 'Tesoro' (Italian/Spanish for 'treasure') signals Cannondale's intent of an all-day, do-everything electric trekking bike.

The verdict
- Big Bosch batteries (up to 750 Wh) plus dual-battery option on Tesoro X give class-leading touring range
- Genuinely versatile trekking platform: 100 mm fork + parallelogram suspension seatpost + 2.2" tyres handle gravel and rough city surfaces
- Three frame designs (high-step / step-through / low step-through) make it accessible to almost any rider
- Fully commuter-equipped out of the box — integrated AXA lights, mudguards, 25 kg rack, ABUS frame lock, SP-Connect phone mount on the stem
- Strong, reliable Bosch Performance Line CX drive unit with up to 85 Nm and excellent low-maintenance reputation
- Heavy — around 25 kg, making it hard to lift, carry up stairs, or transport on a rack
- Coil/spring suspension fork is basic and adds weight without much sensitivity
- Lower trims (X 3) lack a smartphone app and use simpler Purion/Intuvia displays
- Premium pricing (around €4,999 / £5,000 for the Neo X 1) is steep versus direct-to-consumer rivals
- The 28 mph Performance Speed versions are NOT EPAC in the EU and require registration/insurance in the Baltics, limiting their practicality
