Origin

Commencal introduced the Ramones in 2012 as its dedicated junior trail bike line — bringing the same Andorran mountain bike philosophy (real geometry, proper components, no compromise) to children's bikes. Named after the iconic punk band, the Ramones line grows with the rider from balance bikes through to 24" full-featured trail bikes.

The verdict

+Strengths
  • Disc brakes and proper trail geometry give children genuine mountain bike capability, not toy-bike feel
  • Size range (14"–24") grows with the child, with consistent Commencal quality across sizes
  • Direct-to-consumer pricing makes quality junior trail bikes accessible
Weaknesses
  • Limited availability via dealers — direct-only means no local shop trial before purchase
  • Mechanical disc brakes (not hydraulic) on entry 20" builds limit modulation for aggressive young riders
  • Weight, while reasonable for alloy kids bikes, is higher than premium carbon junior options
