Origin

The AMS Hybrid ONE44 is Cube's lightweight all-mountain e-MTB, launched in 2024 for MY2025 and built in Waldershof, Bavaria. It marks Cube's first use of the new C:68X high-modulus carbon layup, with a claimed bare frame weight of 2,100 g, and is powered by the lightweight Bosch Performance Line SX motor (250 W nominal, 600 W peak, 55 Nm torque) paired with a Bosch CompactTube 400 Wh battery. The combination puts complete-bike weights between 16.2 kg and 18.4 kg, positioning the AMS Hybrid ONE44 squarely against Trek Fuel EXe, Specialized Levo SL and Orbea Rise as a 'light-eMTB' that rides closer to an analogue trail bike. Travel is 140 mm front (Fox Performance 34) and 144 mm rear via Cube's ETC four-link suspension, with 29'' wheels across all sizes and modern trail geometry. Available trims are SLX, TM, SLT and Super TM with the top model arriving at approximately £7,999 / €9,499.

The verdict

+Strengths
  • Genuinely light for an e-MTB (16.2–18.4 kg) — rides and handles much like an analogue trail bike, with natural, intuitive manners
  • Excellent value: complete builds from £5,499/€6,499 undercut Bosch-SX rivals (Trek Fuel EXe, Specialized Levo SL) by £1,000–£2,000
  • High-quality spec for the money — full C:68X carbon frame, FOX 36/FLOAT X Factory and SRAM XX AXS on the Super TM
  • Comfortable, supportive ETC four-link rear suspension that enables long all-day rides
  • Practical range extender path: 400 Wh internal + Bosch PowerMore 250 = ~650 Wh when needed
Weaknesses
  • Rear brake is undergunned — small two-piston Magura caliper with only a 180 mm rotor fades on long descents
  • Tall front end makes handling feel slightly unbalanced for some riders
  • Bosch SX is a low-torque (55 Nm) motor: needs high pedalling cadence and rider effort, far from full-power feel on steep climbs
  • 400 Wh non-removable battery means home/indoor charging only and limited headroom without the extra-cost extender
  • Modest 400 Wh capacity can be limiting for very long or high-assist days versus full-power 600–800 Wh e-MTBs

Who it’s for

Strong rider transitioning from analogue MTB who wants subtle assist on long climbs; technical Baltic trail riding where the lightweight e-MTB handles like a regular bike, multi-hour all-day rides where 400 Wh is enough.
