Origin
Cube is one of Germany's largest bike makers, founded in 1993 by Marcus Puerner in Waldershof, Bavaria, where it still designs and assembles bikes today. Long known for aggressively priced road, MTB and trekking bikes, Cube entered the booming European cargo-bike market late but decisively: the Cargo Hybrid line arrived around 2019-2020 as the family cargo/long-John segment exploded across German, Dutch and Nordic cities. Rather than reinvent the format, Cube took the proven Bosch Cargo Line drivetrain, wrapped it in an aluminium long-John frame with a low EPP box, and pointed it squarely at buyers who wanted an Urban Arrow-style bike for a four-figure-lower price. The bike quickly became one of the value references of the category and expanded into Sport (Shimano derailleur), Dual Hybrid (twin battery, ~1000 Wh) and 800 Wh variants over successive model years.

- Excellent value: premium-class capability (220 kg total, big box) for well under Urban Arrow / R&M money
- Stable, predictable handling and strong 4-piston Magura brakes make heavy loads feel controlled
- Very heavy (~48 kg) and long, so it is awkward to manoeuvre, park or store when not riding
- Wide (~75 cm) box and long wheelbase struggle with narrow bike gates and apartment storage
- Mixed 20"/27.5" wheels mean two spare tyre/tube types and no wheel rotation
