Supreme Hybrid
Origin
Cube is one of Germany's largest bike makers, founded in 1993 by Marcus Puerner in Waldershof, Bavaria, where it grew from a small workshop into a full-range brand shipping worldwide. The Supreme line is Cube's dedicated everyday city/urban family, positioned below the more touring-oriented Kathmandu and Touring ranges. The Supreme Hybrid is its electric upright commuter: built around a step-friendly aluminium frame, Bosch mid-motor and low-maintenance Shimano Nexus hub gears, it targets riders who want a 'just-works' bike for the daily grind rather than a sporty trekking machine. Over its run Cube has fanned the platform into a wide matrix — ONE, PRO and SLX trims, plus Comfort and Deluxe sub-series and Easy Entry step-through frames — and migrated it onto the Bosch Smart System from around the 2024 model year, adding the Intuvia 100 display and app connectivity.
Specifications
- Frame
- Superlite aluminium; unisex diamond and Easy Entry (step-through) frame options
- Weight
- kg
- Drivetrain
- Shimano Nexus internally-geared hub — 7-speed (SL-C3000, Revoshift) or 8-speed (Nexus 8) by trim; some Deluxe trims use Gates belt drive
- Brakes
- Shimano hydraulic disc — BR-MT200 (ONE) up to Deore BR-MT410 (PRO), 180mm rotors; some RT trims add coaster brake / Bosch ABS on SLX/SLT
- Wheels
- 28" / 29" (700C), CUBE EX23 double-wall alloy rims; 27.5" on smaller/step-through sizes
The verdict
- Bosch mid-motor is smooth, quiet and natural-feeling; Performance trims add confident hill power
- Low-maintenance by design — Nexus hub gears, enclosed chain (or belt on Deluxe), full mudguards and lights out of the box
- Genuinely comfortable and accessible: upright geometry, suspension fork, wide Conti tyres and an Easy Entry step-through option
- Heavy at ~27-28 kg with the rack and battery — awkward to carry up stairs or lift onto a rack
- Entry Purion display is small and non-removable (no phone charging/app on older units); smart features only on 2024+ Smart System trims
- Hub-gear range is narrower than a derailleur setup, and small quirks reported (e.g. kickstand can foul the crank when rolling backwards)
Generations
2021-2023 classic Bosch
- Original system, non-removable Purion display, no app/smart features. Now the used-market sweet spot.
2024-2026 Bosch Smart System
- Smart System brings app connectivity, eBike Flow, over-the-air updates and refined assist; Deluxe adds belt drive and Bosch ABS options.
