Kathmandu Hybrid

e-trekking
01

Origin

The Kathmandu Hybrid has carried Cube's e-touring philosophy since 2018: a fully-equipped trekking bike with a Bosch drivetrain, carbon-option frame, and proper touring accessories all included at the point of sale. The 2024 generation introduced the lightweight Bosch SX motor on select variants — dropping the motor weight to 2.9 kg — giving the C:62 carbon build exceptional all-round weight. A range extender battery option on SX builds extends range to touring distances that would otherwise require overnight charging.

The verdict

+Strengths
  • Fully equipped (lights, rack, fenders) with no additional investment required
  • Bosch SX motor option gives exceptional weight savings without sacrificing capability
  • Range extender compatibility makes multi-day touring viable
Weaknesses
  • C:62 carbon variant carries a premium price
  • Smaller SX battery (400 Wh) gives shorter range than CX/750 Wh competitors without range extender
  • Touring accessories add ~3–4 kg — significant if used for sportier riding
