Origin
De Rosa entered the gravel market around 2020 with the Gravel Carbon — a pragmatic application of its road carbon expertise to the adventure-cycling boom. The frame borrowed internal cable routing and Italian aesthetic sensibilities from the road range, combining them with a wider fork and 1x gravel gearing compatibility. It laid the groundwork for the more developed Spider gravel platform that followed.

The verdict
+Strengths
- Carbon frame with full internal routing and Italian aesthetics positions it above utility gravel bikes
- Campagnolo Ekar 13-speed build offers the widest gearing range of any then-available gravel groupset
- De Rosa road-frame heritage translates to a confident, lively ride character on mixed surfaces
−Weaknesses
- First-generation gravel platform lacks dedicated rack mounts and bikepacking-specific details of the Spider successor
- Weight and price are in premium territory compared to aluminium gravel alternatives with similar specs
- Production winding down as Spider takes over — parts support may tighten
