AR (Aero Road)

Origin

The AR has long been Felt's wind-cheating road racer, and the 2020 generation reinvented it. Felt went disc-brake-only, expanded tire clearance to 30 mm, and tucked the cables into a semi-integrated InsideOut cockpit for cleaner airflow. The headline comfort trick is a seatpost split into two leaf-spring halves wrapped in a co-molded sleeve — Felt claims 112% more flex than before, taming the buzz that aero frames are notorious for. The result is a bike Felt calls its most aero road bike ever, but one that's finally practical for long days.

The verdict

+Strengths
  • Genuinely fast aero frame developed with CFD and wind-tunnel testing
  • Compliant split seatpost takes the edge off rough roads
  • Modern: disc brakes, 30 mm clearance, clean semi-integrated cockpit
Weaknesses
  • Aero frame and deep wheels can feel demanding in crosswinds
  • Semi-integrated routing complicates fit changes vs an open cockpit
  • Top TeXtreme builds command a premium price
