Origin
Gotrax launched in 2017 as a US-based (Los Angeles) budget mobility brand under parent GOTRAX / GKS, first making its name with cheap kick-scooters and hoverboards sold through Walmart, Best Buy and Amazon. The G-series e-scooters were the brand's push into the adult commuter segment, aiming squarely at the entry-level price point below premium names like Segway-Ninebot. The G4 arrived around 2020-2021 as the flagship of that value line: bigger 10-inch pneumatic tires, a genuine rear disc brake and a claimed 25-mile range, all at a price that undercut most competitors. It became one of the most widely sold beginner scooters in North America precisely because it delivered 'good enough' commuter performance without the premium markup, and Gotrax kept the badge alive with refreshes (a 2024 passcode-lock update) and spin-offs (G4 Pro, dual-motor G4 Series).
