Origin

The Makena is Kona's 20" kids mountain bike — built to give young riders their first proper off-road experience. Kona applies the same material quality (6061 butted aluminum) and component thinking (proper V-brakes with child-fit levers, wide 2.6" tires) to kids bikes as to adult models, resulting in a bike that grows with a child's skills rather than limiting them.
