Scarp

mtb
01

Origin

The Scarp is KTM's aluminium answer to riders who want full suspension without a carbon price tag. Using the brand's SLL (Straight-Line-Link) rear suspension — a Horst-link four-bar design — it achieves 90 mm of active, anti-squat rear travel that works well under pedalling load. Positioned below the carbon Lycan in the line-up, the Scarp remains a solid choice for recreational XC and light trail riding where a hardtail feels too unforgiving.

The verdict

+Strengths
  • SLL four-bar rear suspension pedals efficiently without excessive bobbing
  • SRAM SX Eagle 1×12 gives a broad gear range for mixed-terrain XC riding
  • Full suspension at an aluminium price point — practical value proposition
Weaknesses
  • 90 mm rear travel is limited for technical enduro terrain
  • Aluminium frame adds weight vs comparable carbon FS bikes
  • 2-piston MT201 brakes lose power on long descents compared to 4-piston options
