Origin
The Zesty is Lapierre's versatile trail/all-mountain bike, historically the 'do-everything' middle ground between the XC Edge and the Spicy enduro race bike. For 2024 Lapierre gave the carbon Zesty CF a dedicated, ground-up frame instead of a detuned Spicy chassis, bumping travel to a balanced 150/150 mm and slackening geometry to 64.5°. Marketed as 'more assertive, more playful and definitely more versatile' — a rider's tool for blue/red trails, occasional black, and all-day adventures rather than a racer's tool.

The verdict
+Strengths
- Smooth, quiet, plush suspension that excels pointed straight down rough descents
- Strong high-speed stability — accelerates well and stays composed at pace
- Carbon frame with thoughtful detailing: integrated storage, mud flaps, clean internal routing
- Stout, confidence-inspiring Fox 36 fork up front
- Dedicated 2024 all-mountain frame is far more capable and modern than the old Spicy-derived chassis
−Weaknesses
- Sits deep in its travel when climbing — needs shock lockout to pedal efficiently
- Less agile mid-corner and on flatter, twisty terrain; not the nimblest 150 mm bike
- Lower builds skimp on brakes/cockpit (older 6.9 came with weak 2-piston SRAM G2 R that struggled on descents)
- Chainstay/heel-rub protector design flaw reported causing heel rubbing on descents
- Mixed-tier drivetrain (XT mech but SLX/Deore shifter, cassette, chain) feels uneven for the price
