Origin

The Norco Sight is the all-mountain trail bike from Canadian brand Norco, first introduced in 2012 as the go-to platform for uncompromised all-mountain riding. Over five generations it grew progressively longer, slacker and more capable. For 2024 (Gen 5) Norco gave it a ground-up redesign, swapping the traditional Horst link for a high-pivot VPS-HP layout with a chainstay-mounted idler pulley — borrowing ideas from the burlier Range and Shore — while keeping 150 mm rear / 160 mm front travel.

The verdict

+Strengths
  • Supple, grippy rear suspension that irons out trail chatter and gives near-unbreakable cornering traction
  • Ride Aligned size-specific geometry and one of the best setup calculators in the industry — benefits both tall and short riders
  • Genuinely fast and stable on rough descents; rides like an enduro bike despite 'all-mountain' billing
  • High-pivot VPS-HP idler layout devours square-edge bumps thanks to rearward axle path
  • Solid, dependable parts spec (Shimano XT/MT520 brakes, RockShox Lyrik, capable long-travel dropper)
Weaknesses
  • No in-frame storage compartment
  • Idler pulley adds noticeable noise on longer rides and some drivetrain friction
  • Heavy (~15.7 kg) — a chore to climb compared with lighter trail bikes like the Optic
  • Long, tall, slack front end makes it cumbersome on tight, flat or low-speed trails
  • Shock can feel harsh deep in the stroke; stock Ergon grips disliked by some testers
