Origin

Introduced in 2016 as Pinarello’s most accessible carbon road bike, the Gan was derived from the F8 race platform but re-tuned for everyday riders. It carried the full visual DNA of the brand — the kinked Onda fork, asymmetric carbon frame, and FlatBack aerofoil tube profiles co-developed with Jaguar — at roughly one-fifth of the Dogma’s price. The Gan Disc variant followed with flat-mount hydraulic brakes and a thru-axle, making it one of the more affordable disc-brake road bikes with premium Italian brand provenance. Pinarello phased out the Gan around 2022, replacing it with the more endurance-focused X-Series that added 32 mm tyre clearance and Flexy Stays compliance technology.

The verdict

+Strengths
  • Genuine Pinarello DNA — asymmetric carbon, Onda fork, and FlatBack aero tube profiles trickle down from the race range
  • Swift and sharp-handling: reviewers describe it as “speedy and responsive” with good power transfer for an entry-level build
  • Disc variant delivers excellent stopping power and modern thru-axle security
Weaknesses
  • T600 carbon is heavier and less refined than Pinarello’s higher-modulus layups; harsher ride on rough roads
  • Narrow 25 c tyre clearance (rim-brake) limits all-road versatility compared to more modern endurance bikes
  • Stock spec (Mavic Aksium disc wheels, basic 105) considered sub-par for the price premium the Pinarello badge commands
