Origin

Pinarello launched the original Nytro in 2019 as its first electric road bike, using the Fazua Evation modular motor system -- a then-novel removable drive unit that kept the bike looking and behaving close to a conventional road bike. Real-world range proved limited (~100 km), the Fazua system was polarising in reliability, and the ~13 kg weight blunted the appeal for serious roadies. In 2023 Pinarello overhauled the Nytro completely: a new T900/T700 carbon frame family (E-Road and E-Gravel), TQ-HPR50 motor (50 Nm, 300 W, 1.85 kg -- the lightest mid-drive on the market at launch), a 360 Wh internal battery, and TiCR fully internal cable routing. The result was claimed the world's lightest mid-drive e-road bike from 11.4 kg -- a significant achievement in a segment where motors typically add 4-6 kg over comparable acoustic bikes.

The verdict

+Strengths
  • Class-leading weight at 11.4 kg (E9): the TQ-HPR50 motor's 1.85 kg makes this feel closer to a real road bike than most e-road competitors
  • Natural power delivery: TQ's 300 W / 50 Nm assist blends smoothly with rider input, praised by reviewers for feeling less intrusive than larger motors
  • Dual-platform (E-Road + E-Gravel) on one chassis, with genuine clearance for all-road use in gravel spec; 360 Wh + extender cover long sportive days
Weaknesses
  • Premium pricing: E5 starts at ~EUR 7,800 / GBP 7,500 -- expensive even for an e-road bike
  • 360 Wh battery is smaller than competitors (e.g. Specialized Turbo Creo uses 565 Wh) -- range in high-assist modes is shorter than alternatives
  • Single-button / app interface for mode selection is minimal; competitors offer bar-mounted colour displays with richer feedback
