ROSE BikesGround Control

01
Origin
2016. The Ground Control was ROSE's mid-travel trail full suspension — the shorter-travel companion to the Root Miller. Where the Root Miller targeted enduro (140–160mm), the Ground Control covered the 120mm trail/XC crossover sweet spot. In 2025 it transitioned to hardtail, repositioning as a trail hardtail rather than a short-travel full suspension.

The verdict
+Strengths
- Dropper post standard on all builds — trail-ready from factory at every price point
- Mixed wheel sizing (29"/27.5" by frame size) — proportional fit approach
- BikePerfect 2020: 'Amazing value for 120mm trail bike.' DT Swiss M1900 on £1,814 build impressive
- Modern trail geometry (67° HTA, 460mm reach on L) — not compromised for beginners
- opticycles.com 2025: 'XT mechanical shifting predictable. Hydraulic discs stop with steady power.'
- Enduro MTB 2020: 'Fundamental revision — beautiful frame, top spec at great price'
- Sunringle Düroc 35 Comp wheels (31mm internal) on entry model — wide rim for tubeless tyre support
- Direct sales: RockShox Revelation + XT at sub-£1,900 — retail equivalent significantly more expensive
−Weaknesses
- 2025 hardtail transition removes rear suspension — riders wanting full suspension must step up to Root Miller (significantly more expensive)
- Alloy frame only — no carbon option (consistent across ROSE MTB range)
- Limited international review coverage of 2025 hardtail version — less data available vs full sus era
- Full sus era: Ground Control occasionally described as 'cruiser rather than combatant' (99spokes) — comfortable but not aggressive
- Enduro MTB 2020: suspension limits at high speed — similar to Root Miller critique. Now addressed by hardtail transition.
