Foil RC
road4900–13000 GBP
01
Origin
2012. The Foil was Scott's entry into the aero road bike category — a rapidly evolving segment that was reshaping professional road racing. Where the Addict served climbers, the Foil was built for sprinters, rouleurs, and classics specialists who needed aerodynamic advantage.

Specifications
- Frame
- HMX-SL carbon (top spec: Ultimate/Pro/Team) or HMX carbon (RC 10/20/30). F01 Airfoil truncated tube profiles, dropped seat stays, oversized aero headtube with fully integrated routing. HMX-SL frame 915g painted / 805g unpainted (56cm). 9% lighter and 10% more aero than Gen 2.
- Weight
- kg
- Drivetrain
- 2×12-speed electronic across the range: SRAM Red AXS (Ultimate), Shimano Dura-Ace Di2 (Pro/Team), Shimano Ultegra Di2 (RC 10), Shimano 105 Di2 (RC 20/30). Even the entry RC 30 is electronic.
- Brakes
- Hydraulic disc brakes (flat-mount), groupset-matched (SRAM Red/Force or Shimano Dura-Ace/Ultegra/105 Di2). Rear calliper hidden behind the inward-angled dropped seat stays. Disc-only platform — no rim-brake option in Gen 3.
- Wheels

The verdict
+Strengths
- 10% aero gain over previous Foil confirmed by independent testing with Drag2Zero
- 7.43kg at size 56cm (Pro spec) — impressively light for an aero bike
- Duncan SL Aero CFT seatpost genuinely improves compliance on rough roads and cobbles
- Geometry identical to Addict RC — sharp, responsive handling vs sloppy typical aero bikes
- Dropped seat stays hide disc callipers and add aero gain — elegant dual-purpose engineering
- BikeRadar: 'ticks the aero and comfort boxes, and impresses on the scales too'
- Escape Collective April 2025: 'still feels like a modern aero benchmark' 3 years after launch
- Syncros Capital 1.0 Aero 60mm wheels standard from RC 10 — no budget shallow-rim compromise
−Weaknesses
- 1" eccentric fork steerer limits aftermarket stem and parts compatibility — unusual and frustrating for mechanics
- Saddle clamp described as 'fiddly, frustrating' in multiple reviews
- Hookless rims restrict tyre pressure options — some premium tyre choices excluded
- No power meter on RC Pro (£9,000 / $9,000) — notable omission at this price
- 30mm max tyre clearance — less than Addict RC (34mm) and Addict Gravel (45mm)
- Gen 3 is now 3 years old (2022 launch) — competitors have refreshed more recently
