Origin
2022. The Patron eRide replaced the Genius eRide as Scott's flagship full-suspension eMTB in 2022. The name 'Patron' signals a premium, flagship intent. It was the first Scott eMTB to apply the Bold Cycles-derived IST integrated shock technology — a year after the Spark (2022) got the same treatment on the acoustic side. The Patron represents Scott's most complete integration statement: motor, battery, shock, cables — all hidden inside the frame.

The verdict
+Strengths
- 800Wh battery (Gen 2) + optional 250Wh extender = up to 1,050Wh total — exceptional range for long days
- Bosch CX Gen 5 eliminates descent clunking noise — major quality-of-life improvement over Gen 1
- Bosch ABS Pro (ST 900 Tuned) is genuinely useful on technical descents — E-MTB Magazine: 'game-changer in gnarly trail scenarios'
- IST integrated shock and motor well-protected from elements — reduced maintenance frequency
- Low, central CoG from motor placement and battery position — 'planted feel, intuitive cornering'
- TracLoc (2-lever) integrates dropper and suspension modes cleanly
- Full integration (no external cables) means no snagging, quieter ride
- Entry Patron 920 praised as 'best-selling, most capable' despite alloy frame — good value for platform
−Weaknesses
- Gen 1 weight: 23.86kg (carbon 900 Tuned), 26.9kg (alloy 920) — heavy even for eMTB category
- Gen 1: no space for piggyback shock inside frame — limits tuning options for aggressive riders
- Cockpit complexity: brake, gear, Bosch display, LED remote, TwinLoc, dropper all on bars — 'too much for one thumb' (E-MTB Magazine)
- Gen 1 900 Tuned: alloy cranks and GX cassette/NX chain on a £15,000+ bike — spec mismatch
- Gen 1 SAG indicator not visible from above — needed second person to read during setup
- HTA of 65° (Gen 1) — steepest in enduro category, less confidence-inspiring on aggressive descents vs slacker competitors
- Range extender sacrifices water bottle in frame — inconvenient on hot days
