Origin

The XP debuted around 2012 as Superior answer to riders who wanted race-bred handling without full-suspension weight and complexity. The X6 Ultralite aluminum frame uses hydroforming to extract every gram of dead weight while maintaining stiffness. Final assembly at BFI in Koprivnice, Czech Republic.

The verdict

+Strengths
  • Alu X6 Ultralite frame delivers exceptional stiffness and low weight for an alloy hardtail
  • Full Boost spec and RockShox Judy Silver fork bring race-standard axle stiffness to a mid-priced bike
  • Shimano Deore 1x11 drivetrain is dependable and widely serviceable across Europe
Weaknesses
  • Hardtail geometry rewards smooth XC tracks — rough technical terrain punishes the rigid rear end
  • Race geometry puts riders in an aggressive position that beginners find uncomfortable on longer rides
  • Press-fit BB92 can develop creak over time if not serviced regularly
