The Trek Allant+ was launched in late 2019/2020 as Trek's premium commuter e-bike, replacing the older Dual Sport+ and Super Commuter+ series. 01The Allant+ originally launched with OCLV carbon frames on the 9.9 models — one of the few carbon-framed commuter e-bikes in the world. These were dropped after 2021, likely due to cost and the niche appeal of a €6,399 commuter e-bike.
02The S-model speed pedelecs (45 km/h) were discontinued after 2023 — a victim of fragmented EU regulations where speed pedelecs require different registrations, insurance, and helmet requirements in each country.

Buyer’s notes

№ 01

Speed pedelec (45 km/h) S-models are DISCONTINUED. The current Allant+ lineup is 25 km/h pedelec only. For speed pedelec, look at Riese & Müller, Stromer, or Specialized.

Allant+ 9 vs 5: The flagship's belt drive + CVT hub eliminates all chain maintenance — no oiling, no adjusting, no replacement for years. Worth the €1,800 premium for daily commuters.

Battery choice matters: check which battery sizes are available for your chosen model. Larger batteries (625Wh+) add weight but are critical for 25+ km commutes, especially in winter.

In Lithuania, a helmet is now MANDATORY for all e-bike riders (since Jan 1, 2026). In Estonia and Latvia, no helmet required for 25 km/h pedelecs.

Bosch Smart System requires a Bosch-authorized dealer for diagnostics and updates. Verify there's a dealer in your area before purchasing.

№ 06

Consider frame style carefully: Lowstep for easy mounting/dismounting in city traffic, Diamond for stiffness, Midstep/Stagger as compromise. Test ride if possible — frame choice is very personal on a 25 kg bike.

Law & registration

All three Baltic states follow EU Regulation 168/2013. Pedelec ≤250W continuous with assist up to 25 km/h = bicycle. Allant+ Speed (45 km/h) = moped/L1e in all Baltic states.
