Rail
Origin
The Rail is Trek's full-power, long-travel electric mountain bike — built for enduro-style riding where motor assistance lets the rider climb fast and descend hard. The 2025 Rail+ Gen 5 generation marks the platform's biggest revision since launch: travel jumped to 160mm front and rear (previously 150/150), the new Bosch Performance Line CX Gen 5 motor delivers 85Nm torque and 600W peak power, and a fresh 800Wh PowerTube battery offers more range than the previous 750Wh unit while weighing almost half a kilo less thanks to newer-generation cells. Trek added a second flip-chip to the rear triangle for adjustable geometry, refined the ABP (Active Braking Pivot) suspension layout for quieter chainslap and better small-bump compliance, and routed cables internally through the headset. The lineup mixes OCLV Mountain Carbon (Rail+ 8/9.7/9.8/9.9) and aluminium (Rail+ 5/8) frames. Prices for 2025-2026 span roughly €5,499 for the aluminium Rail+ 5 to about €11,999 for the Rail+ 9.8 GX AXS T-Type Gen 5. It competes directly with the Specialized Turbo Levo, Canyon Spectral:ON, and Santa Cruz Bullit.
