Origin

The Venon started life as Vitus's premium endurance road bike but evolved into something more versatile. The Venon Evo (2023) generation adopted T1000 carbon in the mix, increased tyre clearance to 700x45c, and made the front derailleur removable — effectively a bike that can be road, gravel, and winter bike simultaneously. BikeRadar named the Venon Evo RS its Road Bike of the Year for 2023.

The verdict

+Strengths
  • BikeRadar RBOTY 2023 — independently confirmed fast, comfortable, and versatile
  • Up to 45c tyre clearance is exceptional for a road-positioned carbon frame
  • Mixed T700/T800/T1000 layup achieves a genuine stiffness-to-weight balance
Weaknesses
  • Versatility means no single focus — dedicated racers or dedicated gravel bikes each do their job marginally better
  • Premium Evo RS pricing moves it away from classic Vitus value positioning
  • 45c clearance in theory; real-world mudguard fitment can be tight
