T-50
Origin
vsf fahrradmanufaktur was born in 1987 when a consortium of independent, self-managed German bicycle shops — the Verbund Service und Fahrrad (vsf), founded in 1985 by around 40 dealers in Berlin-Kreuzberg — decided to build their own bikes to a common, uncompromising standard. The manufactory was set up on the site of a decommissioned Bremen shipyard (production later moved to Oldenburg in Lower Saxony) and its first bike, the legendary 'A-Model', set the template: durable, fully-equipped touring and trekking machines assembled by hand rather than mass-produced. Today the workshop still hand-builds its bikes and backs every aluminium or steel frame and fork with a 10-year guarantee. The T-50 sits at the accessible end of that catalogue — the cheapest way into a genuinely hand-assembled German trekking bike — while sharing the same touring DNA (dynamo lighting, rack, mudguards, everyday reliability) as the pricier T-100/T-500 models.

- Entry-level drivetrain and rim/hub-brake spec on the base Nexus build feels basic next to disc-brake rivals.
