Origin
The Torque is Canyon's answer to freeride and bike park riding. It is explicitly designed to handle the massive impacts of jump lines and downhill tracks (Category 5 testing), but unlike the Sender DH bike, it has a dropper post and steep seat angle so you can pedal it back to the top. Gen 2 (2022-present): Redesign offering full 29er, full 27.5, and Mullet variants. Increased stiffness and updated modern freeride geometry.

The verdict
+Strengths
- Composed, hard-hitting suspension that balances traction with big-impact capability — confident and stable on steep, fast, rough terrain.
- Category 5 frame rating (same as Canyon's Sender DH bike) — exceptionally burly and durable.
- Surprisingly mild-mannered climber for the genre thanks to the steep 78° seat angle and upright pedalling position; you can self-shuttle laps.
- Outstanding value — typically the most attractive price tag in its enduro/freeride test field.
- Thoughtful details: screw-in cable ports, hinged rear axle, flip-chip geometry adjust, three wheel-size configurations (29 / 27.5 / Mullet).
−Weaknesses
- Low BB in the LO flip-chip setting is ground-scraping — frequent pedal strikes even on tamer climbing trails.
- Heavy (~15.8 kg) — not built for lightweight climbing or long mileage days; weighs close to alloy trail bikes.
- Demanding setup: suspension/geometry reward a skilled rider and can feel imbalanced; shock can hang up on repeated impacts if not dialled.
- 27.5 / Mullet rear does not roll over root gardens and braking bumps as well as a full 29er.
- Some testers reported shock bolts working loose and a creak from the rear shock mount (attributed to pre-production parts).
