Origin
The Meta HT launched in 2014 as Commencal's gateway into trail riding — a hardtail with enduro-grade geometry at a price any rider could afford. The V3 in 2025 received a full redesign: new seat-cluster geometry for comfort flex, size-specific mullet option for small riders, and EFBE Tri-Test certification with a lifetime warranty — raising the bar for what an affordable alloy hardtail should offer.

The verdict
+Strengths
- Slack 64.5° head angle and short 430mm chainstay deliver confident descending with hardtail agility
- Size-specific mini-mullet (S) and full 29er (M-XL) serve different rider sizes optimally
- EFBE certified with lifetime warranty at a price point that vastly undercuts the competition
−Weaknesses
- Hardtail rear end passes rough trail impacts directly to the rider — less forgiving than full-suspension options
- Short seattubes on larger sizes can limit dropper post insertion depth for taller riders
- Entry-level build specs (lower trims) can limit the frame's potential on technical descents
