Origin

Launched in 2023 as "Settanta" (Italian for seventy, celebrating De Rosa's 70th anniversary), this is the most technologically ambitious road bike the Milan brand has ever produced. Twenty-two months of co-development with Pininfarina — including sessions in Pininfarina's proprietary wind tunnel normally reserved for Formula 1 cars — produced a frameset 220 g lighter than the SK Pininfarina and with lower drag coefficients than any previous De Rosa model.

The verdict

+Strengths
  • Lightest frame in the De Rosa range (730 g) while also being the most aerodynamic — a rare combination
  • Pininfarina wind-tunnel development gives verifiable aero credentials, not marketing claims
  • 32 mm tyre clearance and tubeless compatibility make it practical on imperfect roads
Weaknesses
  • Premium price reflects the Pininfarina collaboration and hi-mod carbon — significantly above competitors of similar weight
  • Integrated Vision Metron 5D EVO cockpit limits bar/stem swap options for non-standard fit
  • 8 sizes cover most riders but the jump between sizes may not suit extreme proportions
