Origin

The SL AMR (Super Light All Mountain Rider) was Ghost's attempt to bridge the gap between their XC Lector and the more aggressively slack Riot. Launched around 2016, it uses the same TractionLink suspension system at 130 mm of travel — enough to handle proper singletrack but efficient enough for long climbs. It's targeted at riders who want one bike for everything: fast XC laps in the morning and descending on proper trail in the afternoon.

The verdict

+Strengths
  • 130 mm TractionLink suspension is genuinely versatile across XC, trail, and light enduro terrain
  • Available in aluminium and carbon to suit different budgets
  • Ghost's own kinematics give consistent feel across all builds
Weaknesses
  • 130 mm limits it on demanding enduro trails where the Riot's 140–160 mm is more appropriate
  • Positioned in a crowded mid-travel bracket where many brands compete intensely
  • Some builds use budget components that underperform the frame's capability
