Origin

Kross introduced the Earth in 2016 as its XC race weapon — positioned above the Hexagon and Level in terms of component quality and frame engineering. The Earth name became associated with World Cup-adjacent performance after Kross's sponsored athletes raced related platforms at elite XC events. The top Earth 3.0 blurs into carbon territory with its hybrid alloy/carbon construction.

The verdict

+Strengths
  • Shimano XT/SLX 12-speed delivers elite-level shifting precision and durability
  • Schwalbe Racing Ray/Ralph OEM tire choice is genuinely race-worthy
  • Carbon rear stays on 3.0 meaningfully improve trail compliance vs all-alloy rivals
Weaknesses
  • Frame weight still higher than full-carbon XC bikes at this component level
  • No dropper post routing on lower Earth builds
  • Limited dealer network outside Central/Eastern Europe reduces service accessibility
