Macina Kapoho

e-mtb

Origin

The Macina Kapoho debuted in 2018 as KTM's enduro e-MTB, filling the space between the trail-focused Macina Lycan and the extreme Macina Prowler. Named after Kapoho in Hawaii — a place associated with dramatic natural transformation — the Kapoho uses 160 mm of SLL travel and Bosch Performance CX power to tackle technical enduro terrain. The Prestige carbon variant brings the frame weight down significantly while maintaining the same suspension architecture.

The verdict

+Strengths
  • 160 mm SLL travel handles aggressive enduro terrain with confidence
  • Bosch CX 85 Nm provides powerful assist on prolonged technical climbs
  • Carbon frame option (Prestige) reduces weight meaningfully for a 160 mm e-enduro bike
Weaknesses
  • Typical weight of ~25 kg makes the Kapoho heavy even by e-MTB standards
  • SLL travel is optimised for XC/trail — more demanding riders prefer progressive linkage kinematics
  • Bosch CX motor profile can feel abrupt in power delivery compared to newer lightweight motors
