Bullit
Origin
The Bullit name is a Santa Cruz classic: the original Bullit was a beloved single-pivot freeride/all-mountain bike sold from the early 2000s until around 2011, a workhorse of the long-travel era. In November 2020 Santa Cruz resurrected the name for something completely different — a full-carbon, full-power e-enduro built around Shimano's then-new EP8 motor. Rather than chase efficiency, Santa Cruz aimed the reborn Bullit squarely at gravity riders: 170mm of VPP travel, a mullet wheel setup, tough componentry and geometry built to point downhill. It became the brand's freeride/bike-park e-bike, the one you shuttle laps on. For 2025 Santa Cruz gave the Bullit its biggest overhaul — a new frame, revised suspension and a switch from Shimano to a Bosch Performance Line CX Gen5 motor, cementing it as a premium heavy-hitter alongside the lighter Santa Cruz Vala.

The verdict
- Outstanding descender — composed, planted and confidence-inspiring on steep, rough terrain thanks to 170mm VPP and gravity geometry.
- Playful for a full-power e-bike: the mullet rear wheel and balanced weight keep it maneuverable and fun.
- Premium build quality and finish, strong frame durability, and Santa Cruz's lifetime frame/bearing warranty.
- Heavy and firmly in the full-power camp — not a lightweight/mid-power bike, and it climbs like the burly machine it is.
- Battery capacity is modest for the weight (630/600Wh); range is limited on big-climb days, and Gen 3's non-removable pack removed the spare-battery trick.
- Very expensive and carbon-only — premium pricing with no cheaper alloy entry point.
