Origin

The Colorado is Stevens' long-running aluminium hardtail line — the accessible entry into the Stevens MTB family. Named after the US state and the Colorado River, evoking vast trail landscapes. The Colorado 401 sits at the top of the alloy range and punches above its weight with a Fox 32 Float fork, Shimano Deore XT groupset and four-piston hydraulic brakes. Lower variants (Colorado 601, 701) offer the same DNA with more affordable components.

The verdict

+Strengths
  • Fox 32 Float Rhythm + Deore XT at this price is genuinely strong value
  • 1×12 drivetrain with 10-51T is versatile for everything from flat XC to technical climbs
  • Aluminium frame is durable, repairable, and widely serviceable
Weaknesses
  • 11.6 kg is competitive for alloy but heavier than carbon rivals
  • No dropper post included — needs aftermarket addition for trail use
  • Sun Ringlé wheels are solid but not as light as carbon or premium alloy alternatives
