GazelleEclipse C380+
e-city
01
Origin
The Eclipse launched around 2020 as Gazelle's first Class 3 speed pedelec, allowing motor assist up to 28 mph — the same speed as a confident road cyclist. It brings the brand's signature Dutch engineering (integrated battery, Gates belt, Enviolo CVT) to a faster, more powerful platform powered by Bosch's highest-torque Performance Line Speed motor. The award-winning frame design hides all cables internally and fits the large 750 Wh battery invisibly inside the down tube.

The verdict
+Strengths
- 85 Nm + 28 mph assist genuinely replaces car trips for many urban commuters — faster than city traffic
- 750 Wh battery + Kiox 300 with app connectivity is the most capable electronics stack in the Gazelle lineup
- Enviolo Heavy Duty CVT + Gates CDX belt: zero derailleur adjustments, near-zero chain lube, 30,000 km belt life
−Weaknesses
- Class 3 designation means it may be excluded from some multi-use trails and bike paths depending on local rules
- At 62+ lbs without battery, it is among the heaviest city e-bikes — storage and carrying upstairs is awkward
- Premium price of ,999+ puts it out of reach for most commuters; similar speed is achievable with lighter, cheaper alternatives
