Origin

Wilier Triestina is one of cycling's oldest names, founded in Bassano del Grappa, Italy in 1906 by Pietro Dal Molin. The Cento ("hundred") line was born in 2006 to mark the brand's centenary, and the Cento10Air, unveiled in 2016, was its aero flagship — the number ten signalling a decade of the Cento platform. Wilier developed the frame with computational fluid dynamics, replacing full airfoil tubes with truncated Kammtail (NACA-derived) shapes to cut drag while keeping the frame light and stiff. At a claimed 990g the Air was some 150g lighter than the Cento1 Air it replaced, and roughly as aero — a genuine do-it-all race bike rather than a one-trick aero sled. In 2018/19 Wilier evolved it into the Cento10 Pro, adding disc-brake versions and a claimed 6% torsional-stiffness gain; then in 2021 the Cento10 SL brought the same silhouette to a far lower price using cheaper NH-Mod carbon and off-the-shelf Ritchey finishing kit.

The verdict

+Strengths
  • Fast, aero and genuinely light for the category — a true all-round race bike, not a pure aero sled
  • Sharp, stable handling with a comfortable-for-an-aero-bike ride, helped by the dropped seatstays
  • Classy Italian design and premium spec (often high-end wheels), with a value SL tier for the same look
Weaknesses
  • Ride is on the firm side and the Alabarda integrated cockpit is stiff — not the plushest aero bike
  • Integrated Alabarda cockpit complicates fit changes, servicing and shipping (SL avoids this)
  • SL saves money but adds ~200g of frame weight and loses the one-piece cockpit versus Air/Pro
