F40
Origin
Segway and Ninebot are two halves of the same story. Ninebot was a Beijing startup founded in 2012 that built self-balancing personal transporters; in 2015, backed by Xiaomi and Sequoia, it acquired the pioneering American company Segway Inc. — the firm that invented the self-balancing scooter in 2001. The merged Segway-Ninebot became the world's largest maker of electric kick-scooters, and its hardware powers a huge share of the shared-scooter fleets (Lime, Bird and others) seen on city streets. The F-series, launched in 2021 (F20/F25/F30/F40), was Segway-Ninebot's answer to the maturing consumer commuter market: it moved the whole line onto 10-inch pneumatic tires — a first for the brand's mainstream scooters, which had previously used harder honeycomb/solid tires on the ES-series. The F40 sits at the top of that original quartet, offering the biggest battery and highest speed of the four.

The verdict
- Trusted brand with excellent parts availability, app support and long-term reliability (owners report robust battery life after months of use)
- 10-inch pneumatic tires give a noticeably smoother ride than solid-tire rivals in its class
- Dual braking (regen front + rear disc) plus a fast one-second fold and light ~16 kg weight make it practical for daily commuting and public transport
- No suspension — rough cobbles or potholes are felt directly; strictly a smooth-tarmac commuter
- Single-button interface makes navigating settings and modes cumbersome; some owners report app connectivity glitches over time
- No zero-start / throttle-from-stop — you must kick off first, and the mid-power motor climbs steep hills slowly
