Origin

Segway-Ninebot is the world's largest personal-mobility manufacturer, formed when Ninebot — a Beijing start-up — acquired the original American Segway Inc. in 2015. Best known for its mass-market KickScooter commuter line (the ES/MAX series that powered a generation of shared-scooter fleets), Segway moved upmarket in 2022 with the GT series, its first true 'super-scooter' aimed squarely at the enthusiast performance segment long dominated by boutique brands like Dualtron, Kaabo and Vsett. The GT2, unveiled in May 2022 as the flagship above the single-motor GT1, was Segway's statement that a mainstream giant could build a premium, design-led machine — right down to a fighter-jet-inspired transparent OLED dashboard and an optional rose-gold finish. In Europe it is sold under the name eKickScooter GT2P, and because of its 70 km/h capability it is marketed strictly for racetracks and private property.

The verdict

+Strengths
  • Exceptional, planted ride quality from fully adjustable dual-wishbone suspension and 11-inch tyres
  • Strong dual-motor performance (3000W nominal) with genuine hill-climbing and quick boost acceleration
  • Premium build and standout design — transparent OLED dashboard, big hydraulic brakes, refined finishes
Weaknesses
  • Very heavy (~52 kg) and bulky — poor portability; the stem does not latch flat to the deck when folded
  • Real-world range falls well short of the 90 km claim, especially in race/boost mode (~50 km tested)
  • Premium price (~$3,999 / ~€3,599) and only IPX4 — owners report water sensitivity in real rain

    • Single-motor entry into the GT super-scooter line; digital display, no boost
  2. GT2 / GT2P (2022 flagship)

    • Dual-motor flagship: boost mode, transparent OLED, adjustable dual-wishbone suspension, ~5 kg heavier than GT1
